Why We Love Them

As the Grandmother of 15 beautiful children…3 of which are missing from my family due to a very wrongful adoption…I would like to say to my babies…Jennifer – Christy – Anna – Brandon – Denise – Kelly – Levi – Caleb – Naomi - Trae – Lacy - Cody – Dusty - Zack and Chase. I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART!

Now let's get down to it...

Grandchildren are my very favorite subject in the whole world…bar none. I can talk about them in the morning…in the evening…all through the day…and I dream about them in my sleep.

GRANDCHILDREN ARE A GIFT FROM GOD!

They are your reward for raising your own children.
They are the absolute most important part of your later years.

IF I HAD KNOWN GRANDCHILDREN WERE GONNA BE SO MUCH FUN,
I WOULD HAVE HAD THEM FIRST!!!!!!!

First of all, the usual way of becoming a grandmother is to become a mother. Raising those little people to become upstanding adults is very difficult, most challenging, but the most over whelming reward you will ever have the privilege to be a part of. I don't think you will find a single mother that can honestly say…raising their children was not taxing to say the very least. On the same token…those same mothers will never tell you that it was not worth it…every single day of raising that wonderful child…was worth it all.

So when your child whom you love above anything on this earth allows you the privilege of becoming a grandmother to their child…the love for another child over takes your life and there is no turning back. All the love you had for your babies at an early age is now coming to a new level. You are older…wiser…maybe have a little more money…mellowed…love attention…and have a lot more time to be a grandmother. After all your child and their spouse has to do all those things that made it so hard for you…all you have to do is be grandma.

• Spoiling them rotten.
• Rocking them when they are sleepy or just out of sorts.
• Kissing their little faces all over.
• Hugging them until they holler.
• Buying them things to help out the parents.
• Buying them things cause you want them to have it.
• Paying for things like costumes – braces – ballet shoes…sports stuff, the things that make their world go round in a little smoother fashion.
• Baby sittin'…not raising them…but baby sittin'
• Telling them life stories.
• Showing them right from wrong…adding in things that you have learned.
• Giving them advice…not ruling them, but sharing what you have learned.

• Watching them grow.
• Watching them learn – to walk – to talk - to read – to write.
• Being there for them when they need a shoulder to cry on.
• Being there for them when they have joy to share with you.
• Going to their plays – shows – programs – presentations.
• Bragging on them…cause you know they are the best…and you tell them that.
• Learning from them…as they are their own person and even though you can teach them so much…they will teach you things that you could have never learned on your own.
• Growing with them…and NEVER turn your back on them…NEVER.

We love our babies from the very bottom of our toes, to the very top of our heads…and landing right in the middle of our souls. We will do for them like no one else will…cause we know there will be times in their lives that they need that special someone that sees them for who they are and loves them anyway.

The love of a grandmother is unconditional … never ending and comes from the bottom of our hearts.

If you want a fight on your hands…just start it with a grandmother over her grandchildren…you will regret it…never forget it, and try to never do it again.

WHY do we love them…cause we can…cause we want to…cause we need to…cause they need us…cause they are ours…cause that is the reason God made Grandmothers…to love unconditional … and never give up on them. NEVER!!!!

If you know a grandmother that is fighting for her babies…admire her…help her…love her for what she is doing…but for God's sake…do not get in her way.
